Nancy Emery, Vice President of Landscape
As the Vice President of Landscape, Nancy is responsible for building Rubicon Landscape Group to support the mission of transforming landscapes by transforming lives. She leads a team of over 50 Account Managers, Operations Supervisors, Gardeners, and Day Porters. Through Nancy's previous roles, she's seen all aspects of the landscaping industry. Between running her own vineyard installation/maintenance business as a C-27 contractor, developing an innovative gardening service for a Silicon Valley tech startup, overseeing fine gardening operations in San Francisco, and teaching vocational training classes for gardeners just entering the industry, Nancy has perfected her skills on creating outdoor spaces that people love.
Mike Gillett, Director of Operations
Mike Gillett has worked in the landscape industry for 26 years, starting from a laborer and moving up through every position in the landscape trade. Previously he managed a landscape maintenance business in Southern California producing more than $17 million dollars in annual revenue. He has a BS in Business Management and an MBA with an emphasis in Finance and Global Sustainability. He holds several major landscape industry certifications and is certified DiSC as a facilitator. In his free time, Mike wrote a book about business management and general wellbeing as a guide to help individuals wanting to go into management or in management to help them find a better balance in life. He also regularly speaks to groups about mental health and mental illness and volunteers helping people find resources for help. Mike has three children and loves to hit farmers' markets, cook, and generally experiment with food.
Eric Hage, Account Manager
Eric was hired as a Foreman for Rubicon in 2013 and has over 10 years experience in the landscaping industry including. Eric has a B.A. in History from University of the Pacific, and most recently, a degree in Environmental Horticulture at Foothills College in Los Altos. He is a ReScape Qualified Professional (RQP). Passionate about landscape improvement, and helping the environment, he is an impressive asset to the Rubicon team. He excels in customer service going the extra mile for our customers and staff.
Charlie Kansaku, Operations Supervisor
Charlie has served for 15 years as a Rubicon Landscape team member and has over 25 years of experience as a maintenance supervisor and site superintendent in the commercial landscape maintenance and installation industry.
Pedro Torrez, Operations Manager
Specializing in Irrigation, Pedro has over 10 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing a variety of irrigation systems, including drip irrigation, drainage repair and other landscape focused services. Pedro is familiar with most systems including Rainmaster, DX2, Sentinel, MC, I-Core, and ESP-LX controllers. Pedro has attended factory trained classes provided by Rain Bird and Hunter. Pedro also has extensive experience in landscape construction and training in horticulture including plant, insect and disease identification. An amateur soccer player, he understands the importance of a healthy and well groomed playing fields.
Jim Miranda, IPM & Safety Manager
Jim has worked in the landscape industry for nearly 30 years, gaining expertise in turf management and vegetation control. As a California Qualified Applicator, Jim oversees and trains Rubicon employess on integrated pest control. Jim holds all staff accountable to making safety the #1 priority. He keeps up to date on changes in the safety regulations and he's been especially diligent in rolling out new pandemic-related health and safety protocols. Jim is approaching his 25th anniversary with Rubicon -- his long term clients and coworkers appciate his dedication to teamwork and the joyful attitude to brings to work every day.
